Frequent Questions

u

Why should I install a security system in my property?

Research has shown that installing a security system in your home or business significantly decreases the chances of being burgled. Burglars look for places without alarm systems as they are easier to access and there is less chance of been caught.

CCTV has been shown to create a safer environment for businesses. They can protect assets, stock, staff and customers, and can help deter thieves and vandals. The recorded footage can also help solve crimes and improve work safety.

u

How do security systems need to be maintained?

Every security system should be tested regularly to ensure that it is working properly. Regular tests will ensure that all devices, wiring and back up batteries are in working order and work as expected. During a routine maintenance visit all components of a security system will be checked and serviced if required. Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) is part of Guztech security services offered where every systems are routinely checked every six months and all backup batteries replaced every two years.

u

What is the difference between monitored and unmonitored security systems?

Unmonitored (or self-monitored) security systems are less expensive as they do not incur recurring fees and customer is only required to pay a one-off fee. Monitored security systems require monitoring plans as well as mobile dialler plans.

While unmonitored security systems may be controlled remotely using a compatible smartphone app and end-users may be notified of alarms & events, only monitored security systems will have professionals to respond to emergencies 24/7.

u

How long do security systems last?

Properly maintained CCTV, intercom and access control systems can last up to a decade. Some alarm systems can last up to two decades as their components are usually not exposed to the elements. However, technology is always evolving and, therefore, any security system can be upgraded anytime. Generally speaking, upgrade projects are less expensive than greenfield installations as existing cabling and wiring may be re-used as well as some devices may be backward compatible.
